We have emailed families instructions on how to access Lifeway Kids at Home.  Please contact Jodi at kids@gcclakeland.com if you have any questions or need the instructions.  We will follow up these lessons with a brief video each week.

Opening Song

Title: Praise the Name

Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin
Lost without hope with no place to begin
Your love Made a way to let mercy come in
When death was arrested and my life began

Ash was redeemed only beauty remains
My orphan heart was given a name
My mourning grew quiet my feet rose to dance
When death was arrested and my life began

Oh your grace so free
Washes over me
You have made me new
Now life begins with you
It’s your endless love
Pouring down on us
You have made us new
Now life begins with you

Released from my chains I’m a prisoner no more
My shame was a ransom he faithfully bore
He cancelled my debt and he called me his friend
When death was arrested and my life began

Our savior displayed on a criminal’s cross
Darkness rejoiced as though heaven had lost

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Call to Worship

Psalm 110: 1-2

1 The LORD says to my Lord:
    “Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”
The LORD sends forth from Zion
    your mighty scepter.
Rule in the midst of your enemies!

Prayer

“Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, You have brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see You in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold Your glory. Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision. Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter Your stars shine; let me find Your light in my darkness, Your life in my death, Your joy in my sorrow, Your grace in my sin, Your riches in my poverty, Your glory in my valley.”

The Valley of Vision

Song

Title: Bless the Lord

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

You’re rich in love and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship His holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore
Forevermore

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship His holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
I’ll worship Your holy name
Lord I’ll worship Your holy name

Sermon Text

Acts 1:8-11But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Ephesians 1:15-2315 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Song

Title: Eternal King

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
By His wounds we are healed (x2)

Reigning bright and beautiful
Seated high, forever glorious, so glorious
There’s none beside and none before
You alone will stand victorious, victorious

So we fill our lungs with anthems of Your majesty
And join with heaven singing for eternity

Saviour, who was and is forever the Almighty God
Your glory reaches farther than the highest star
Eternal King we shout how wonderful You are

The Son of God, the Son of Man
You came to us, the Lion and the Lamb
You hung in shame before you gave
One final breath, but then you rose again, you rose again

Saviour, who was and is forever the Almighty God
Your glory reaches farther than the highest star
Eternal King we shout how wonderful You are
O Saviour, who was and is forever the Almighty God
Your glory reaches farther than the highest star
Eternal King we shout how wonderful You are
How great You are

Holy holy holy holy
Holy holy, Eternal King
Worthy worthy worthy worthy
Worthy worthy, Eternal King
Holy holy holy holy
Holy holy, Eternal King
Worthy worthy worthy worthy
Worthy worthy, Eternal King

So we fill our lungs with anthems of Your majesty
And join with heaven singing for eternity

Saviour, who was and is forever the Almighty God
Your glory reaches farther than the highest star
Eternal King we shout how wonderful You are
O Saviour, who was and is forever the Almighty God
Your glory reaches farther than the highest star
Eternal King we shout how wonderful You are
How great You are
