Our Vision

GCC exists to be a blessing to our city – in North Lakeland, Florida and beyond – all to the glory of God.

Our Mission

Our mission at GCC is to be a church where people know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, grow in Jesus through Christian community and the ordinary means of grace, and go with Jesus wherever he calls us to serve and surrender.

Our Core Values

Generous – It is truly better to give than to receive. God has generously blessed us richly in Christ so why would we withhold from others what has been freely and lavishly given to us? When we give, we are enriched, others’ needs are met and God is glorified. Therefore, we will strive to be generous with our time, talent and treasure. (2 Corinthians 9:10-12)

Genuine – Because of sin, both in the world and inside us, we can either struggle with pride thinking we have it all together or we can struggle with fear thinking that if people found out we weren’t perfect, they would reject us. This leads to us entering into relationships trying to impress people with our strengths and concealing our brokenness. But we were created to enjoy open and honest relationships, both with our maker and with one another. Because Christians have been justified (declared righteous) and accepted by God through Jesus, they are no longer defined by their greatest strength or worst mistake. We are new creations, washed clean in the blood of Christ and loved perfectly by God. When we are anchored in this truth, we then have the freedom to be open and honest in confessing our sins both to God and to one another. (1 John 1:5-10)

Gospel-centered – The Gospel – the good news of God rescuing sinners through the perfect life, sacrificial death and amazing resurrection of Jesus Christ – is what changes, empowers and guides us. This rescue plan is laid out in the Old and New Testaments in the Bible. So it is this gospel, as presented in the Bible, that will be at the core of who we are and what we are about. (Ephesians 2:4-9)

Gracious – God has graciously forgiven the sins of all people who have believed and will believe in Jesus Christ by faith. Because we have been shown grace and have been forgiven by God for ways in which we have failed to love, we will, in turn, strive to be a church that graciously forgives one another in ways where we have failed to love one another. (Matthew 18:21-35)

Growth-oriented – We want to grow in our personal relationships with Christ and we also want the number of believers to grow as people come to faith in Jesus Christ. We want to grow in grace, give our lives away and see people come to faith in Jesus through our witness on the north side of Lakeland and beyond. Along these lines, it is also our desire to plant a daughter church in the next 7-10 years. (Matthew 28:19-20)
